EXPLORE AN EXAMPLE

A preference becomes a better question.

Drive

Make progress that means something to you.

Drive explores how much achievement and forward momentum matter in your work.

Ask about the role
What would meaningful progress look like in my first three months?
Try a small experiment
Choose one task from the role. Define a useful outcome and notice whether working toward it energizes you.

Security

Understand the stability you need.

Security explores your preference for predictability, continuity and a dependable foundation.

Ask about the role
How often do priorities, responsibilities and working hours change?
Try a small experiment
Speak to someone on the team about their last month. Compare the reality with the stability you need.

Autonomy

Find room to work your way.

Autonomy explores how much freedom you want over how you approach your work.

Ask about the role
Which decisions would I own, and where would I need approval?
Try a small experiment
Try a small project with room to choose your approach. Notice when independence helps and when you want support.

Balance

Make space for the life around your work.

Balance explores how work fits alongside your time, energy and commitments beyond the job.

Ask about the role
What hours did the team actually work last month?
Try a small experiment
Sketch a realistic week in this role, including travel and recovery time. Look for a schedule you could sustain.

Challenge

Choose the kind of stretch you enjoy.

Challenge explores how much novelty, complexity and learning you want in your work.

Ask about the role
What would I need to learn, and what support would be available?
Try a small experiment
Try a beginner task from the field. Notice whether the learning feels engaging and what would make it manageable.

Getting started

Is this a free career test for adults?

Yes. You can answer all 30 questions without an account, then sign in for your free Career Alignment Snapshot. The Career Decision Action Plan is optional and costs $29 once, with no subscription.

How long does the assessment take?

Allow about 8–10 minutes for 30 either-or questions. Choose the answer that best reflects what matters to you now; there are no right or wrong preferences.

How can a free career quiz help before changing jobs?

Use it to name what you want to preserve or change in your next role, including hours, stability, autonomy and learning. WorkClue is designed for adults considering a change, returning after a break or feeling stuck. Turn your result into questions about real roles and check the answers against your experience and practical constraints.

Understanding your result

What makes WorkClue different?

WorkClue focuses on five work preferences: Drive, Security, Autonomy, Balance and Challenge. The free Career Alignment Snapshot clarifies your pattern; the paid decision plan helps you investigate directions and collect evidence. The free decision matrix also compares two options against your priorities without an account.

What does the Career Decision Action Plan add?

The optional $29 plan turns your signals into six career direction hypotheses. Each includes fit evidence, tradeoffs, interview signals, a low-risk test and a decision rule, followed by a measurable 30-day action plan.

Is WorkClue an aptitude test or a job recommendation?

It explores self-reported work preferences. It does not measure abilities through scored tasks or predict performance in a job. Treat your result as a starting point for exploration, not a decision about which career you must choose.

Does the report use AI?

The report includes AI-assisted interpretation. Compare suggestions with your own experience, and check role requirements through reliable sources and conversations. An interpretation can be incomplete or miss context that matters to you.

Payment, privacy & support

Will I be charged a subscription?

No. The Career Decision Action Plan is an optional $29 one-time purchase. You can read your free Career Alignment Snapshot before deciding.

Will my result or feedback appear on the homepage?

Your assessment result is not published on the homepage. Feedback is private unless you explicitly permit a quote to be published. We review the source and permission before featuring a user experience; you can contact us to request removal.
